@unfortunatebeam it looks more real than cgi to me. Sometimes cgi can look fake in action movies, like in certain fast and furious car chase scenes.

this looks at least just as good, if not better, than any cgi. the only difference is it takes more work to do a scene like this. the people that first developed cgi, don’t get me wrong, they put a lot of work, genius, invention into it, but at this point it’s just some already made programs/hardware that are used to do it all, it takes little effort

There was nothing to argue against. “Soul” and “mystery” are not arguments for using old fiddly techniques over CGI.
There are certainly good arguments for using old techniques rather than CGI, but let’s not be ignorant that CGI can achieve such results, just as effectively.

CG effects can kiss my ass. This is the way to go and it still looks best. CG has no soul, no mystery and any advantage it has is offset by the fact that it doesn’t exist and thus still looks “off”.
