@Metals999, actually, apart from the first production variant, the DC-10-10, the DC-10 has had a positive safety record. Bimen Bangladesh operates a fleet of DC-10-30’s, the best selling variant of the DC-10.
so don’t write something off as unsafe before you some thought into it.

@IxIDjDangerIxI yeah but it’s kinda hard to notice the difference
May 16th, 2011 at 8:47 am
@nik0lhc not exactly, but its very, very similar.
the md-11 is abit longer and has a greater wingspan including small winglets.

I used to work on the DC10 as a maintenance engineer. It was a great plane to work on, as far as I was concerned. The GE engine had many innovative features which other engine manufacturers eventually incorporated into their engines.
May 16th, 2011 at 10:16 am
@zenmachinefilms well the md 11 is exactly the same
if the name wasn’t written on it i could swear it was a dc 10
May 16th, 2011 at 11:05 am
@nik0lhc – Yeah, I know about their problems, you are right. It’s just a shame they couldn’t fix them sooner, or maybe they’d still be around.
May 16th, 2011 at 12:04 pm
@nik0lhc The Concorde was simply too old to use and costed more money than it’s received. Anyway the MD-11 is a beauty. I still love to see the KLM flying with them
May 16th, 2011 at 12:48 pm
@zenmachinefilms note that the dc 10 had a a faulty cargo door which could close without locking
it would pop out form the pressure and 1 plane almost crashed
2 years later a plane crashed because of that even thought they had ben notified about the problem and did nothing
so i don’t trust mcdonnel douglas so much
and the concorde was too expensive to develop
it didn’t worth to spend millions for 14 planes
they used that crash as an excuse to retire it
May 16th, 2011 at 1:43 pm
@nik0lhc first of all, its not the Dc-10’s fault. its Continental’s fault for faulty repair. second, Concorde didnt retire because of this crash. it retired because it was making enought money to keep the concorde going. know your fact before you post
May 16th, 2011 at 2:34 pm
mean looking plane
May 16th, 2011 at 3:04 pm
Beautiful camera work – what an iconic plane.

Most awesome sounding commercial airliner ever. Great spool up, and incredible thrust power that’s just LOUD!
I know the DC-10 had it’s share of crashes, but it’s a damned shame McDonnell-Douglas is no longer in business.
May 16th, 2011 at 4:00 pm
i hate that plane
i mean i like it as a plane but i hate it
it was the reason the concorde retired
May 16th, 2011 at 4:52 pm
every airline must offer parachute for accident potential
if it occur nobody can guarantee much u can save
